Necronomicon Signs To Xtreem Music

XTREEM MUSIC has announced the signing of legendary classic German thrash metal band NECRONOMICON. The band emerged back in '83 together with bands like KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, SODOM and released three classic albums from 1986 to 1988 and later two more in 1994 and 2004.

Necronomicon has always been active and nowadays even have three out of the four former members from 1983/84: Freddy, Jogi and Axel plus Andi who joined in 2002. The band is now readying their sixth full length album, "Revenge of the Beast," for a December release.

The band posted the following statement about the signing:

"November 2009, NECRONOMICON has signed! It’s the end of a long search and NECRONOMICON did a pact with the spanish Thrash & Death label XTREEM MUSIC with his owner Dave Rotten. Now it's time to release the production 'Revenge of the Beast' for all the Thrashing maiacs out there! Finally!

"Again it was a long and rocky road for the 4 guys from the southwest of germany. Very typical, very NECRONOMICON. The production 'Revenge of the Beast' was recorded long ago. Once it was produced, mixed and mastered by Guru Achim Köhler it became a damn jackhammer!

"But they didn’t just leave it at one production: Out of thanks and respect to the fans, NECRONOMICON produced 'Revenge of the Beast' on their own a second time - in the style of the 80’s. It was all done in Temple Studio with Oliver Noack and NECRONOMICON and sounds like it – raw and brutal. Both productions are being released together on a special limited double CD edition for the 25th anniversary.

"Then the old question: Who is best for the band? And, as you know, this is not quite easy. After loads of talking and debates Freddy, Axel, Andi and Jogi made up their mind for the Madrid label XTREEM MUSIC.

"Because of the sun and the nice climate conditions there? No, because of Dave who is a real fan of the band, the music and the whole Metal scene. Very authentic! And because Dave build up and manages a very nice label in a professional way an with lot of enthusiasm.
In the end it was a clear decision for NECRONOMICON and we expect a lot from the cooperation."

"Revenge of the Beast" is due for imminent release on December 15th on a first limited edition of 1.000 copies on double CD to celebrate their 25th anniversary. There will also be exclusive and very limited NECRONOMICON shirts to be sold together with the double CD on a special-priced pack (CD+shirt) which will be sold only through the XTREEM MUSIC mailorder.

The band just returned from a 3-show mini-tour in Russia and a presentation show in Madrid, Spain is being organized around January. This will be the very first time NECRONOMICON will play there.

Interview with DEAD

Interview with Dany guitars/vocals of Dead!

1.- You are a band with almost 20 years of carrer, how did you discover the xtreem music and what was your motivation to create a band?

-When we were teenagers and came into contact with "brutal" music like Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, SOD, etc and alcohol at that time – mid of the 80's - we simply became addicted to that stuff, which lasts until today and I think we'll never be cured at all. As those named bands became more and more wimpy, besides better ones - in our opinion - came out such as N.D., Carcass, Autopsy, etc. , we decided to take part into it and created DEAD in 1990.
Unnecessary to explain that we never reached their level of success, but it's the same thing today as it was ment to be thesedays – a great hobby.

2.- What influenced you to become a musicians?
-Of course we wanted to follow suit our musical heroes and get drunk on each gig we would play, have Sex with groupies, and become rich by DEAD – but only the 1st case was realised, hehe..

3.- You came from Nuremberg, what do you remember from the Nuremberg scene at the time?
-As far as I can remember there were just a couple of bands like Lavatory (RIP), Cronos Titan ( RIP – now re-animated), Amen 81, and Immured. Todays there are more bands like Versus the Stillborn-Minded, Deathronation, Mechanix, Xenotaph and Necropsy.

4.- For you what is the essense of the Goregrind/Death Metal talking about the lyrics?
-It's just about dealing with death, guts, violence, zombies, and that shit. But that's not our thing. We just write about our topics in life : Sex and alcohol !

5.- Why more splits than Full Lenght´s?
-If you do more splits you have more chance to spread your bands name as the band with whom you're doing the split also has its circle of friends and contacts – it's a 2-sided promotion if you understand what I mean. The next release will be a full length again – promised!

6.- "Slaves to Abysmal Perversity" is a fucking great EP, how has been your evolution since this EP to your last Full Lenght "Whorehouse Of The Freaks"?
-I think our music did not really change that much..or did it ? What do you think?
Perhaps our style just dissociated a bit from the typical deathgrind and became more filthy, raunchy and sleazy, added by rock elements in some songs. But summarized we kept it at least.

7.- How was the contact with Haemorraghe to do your last split, and what we can expect of this EP?
-We'll it's not an EP as it takes almost 25 minutes - compared with other CD's from that genre it's nearly an album. A Split – Album! We just asked them when we played with them on their "Apology"-release Party and they accepted without any doubt.
Fernando (vox of H.) seems to be a Dead fan which I didn't know before – so I am very proud of that release as you can guess, pal.

8.- Talk to us a little about the tour in Japan, how was the experience, i mean the crowd, the food, etc...
-Japan is FUCKING GREAT !!!! JAPANESE PEOPLE ARE FUCKIN GREAT !!! BELIEVE ME !!!! Never thought that there were so many people in Japan who know us since the beginning…The only thing I just realised was that after getting more and more older ( I refer to our 2nd tour ) you really feel the hangover concerning the time discrepancies, food, etc.. Japan is really great, but without having a good friend there – you're lost !!! Tokyo is the biggest town in the whole world. I just remember going to Osaka…it took us almost 3 (?) hours to get out of Tokyo - weird !!!!

9.- What do you feel when you played in the Obcsene Extreme Festival an Party San Open Air in the same year? Because are a really important festivals.
-To be honest , at the Party San I nearly shitted my pants as it was too big for us…7000 people!!!
It was the 2nd gig with our new drummer and the stage was also too big for just 3 people. But it was quite OK…Suzann from Cliteater/Desensitized told us that the moshpit when we were playing was even bigger than Suffocation played!! That's Ok I think..right ?
OEF is also a really great festival – but it's more or less more into the underground scene, so I did not shit my pants really. My problem is that I am ALWAYS nervous before each gig – and that since almost 18 years !! Equal how big the audience is.

10.- Plans for touring soon?
-Not really, we have to focus on our next album. Nine songs are completed yet and one or two are more to follow to do the album finally.
You also have to consider that were not the youngest anymore ( I am now 35 !!) and also have to work each day. We cannot afford spending all our spare time/vacation for playing gigs.
But want I really want to do is doing the 3rd Japan tour someday and being invited again for the greatest Festival of all time – the Maryland Deathfest in the USA !

11.- Are you satisifed with the work that Obliteration is doing for the band?
-Yes, sure ! It's nowadays really hard to find a label that pays almost all studio costs. If Naru would be a girl I would marry him.

12.- Thanks for this short Interview, something to say?

-Yeah! Porngrind sucks!

Benediction To Enter The Studio Next Year

British extreme metallers Benediction has posted the following message online:

"First off, a big thank you to everybody that turned up to the shows on the tour.also apologies to the few shows that got cancelled, this was beyond our control due to tour bus issues, fire, breaking down etc etc!!! A special mention has to go out to HOLY MOSES and NOMINON, who we are privileged to know and stuck together when all manner of shit was happening to us all on tour. In particular we would like to thank holy moses guitarist Michael who managed to fix just about everything that we broke on the tour!!! We love you matey.

"Now then, our plans for 2009.benediction will be going into the studio again in January/February to record the follow up to Killing Music. It is now written and its down to the fine tuning and choosing what tracks to be on the final recording. To promote this release the band will only be doing festivals and one off shows worldwide except for a Balkans tour which was missed out on the No Reunion Required tour. It will be our 20th anniversary as a band in 2009 and we intend to make some sort of event for ourselves for it.

"The reason for just festivals? Being on a tour bus limits where you can get to country wise. A plane flight can get you anywhere in the world much quicker which means reaching more people to distribute the metal to! After this there are no plans. Let's see how much mayhem we can create on our 20th anniversary festival tour and see who comes out of it alive before any new plans are hatched.

"Thanks for your support on the Benediction / Holy Moses / Nominon tour 2008. It was a blast."

Death Angel Quits Bassist The Band

More than 25 years after co-founding Death Angel with his brother Gus Pepa (guitar) and cousins Mark Osegueda (vocals), Rob Cavestany and drummer Andy Galeon, bassist Dennis Pepa has left the band.

“I’ve been with Death Angel since its inception in the ’80s and believe it is time for me to move on,” he said in a statement to Blabbermouth.net. “Throughout my career with the band, I’ve brought a punk-influenced edge to the Death Angel sound, and as an open-minded musician in need of change, I’d like to diversify and explore other opportunities within and beyond the genre of metal.”

Pepa insists he harbors no ill feelings towards his band members. “The Death Angel guys are my family, both literally and figuratively speaking, and I wish them luck on their future endeavors. Many thanks to the fans, who have extended their support and friendship. I look forward to being involved in new music projects and continuing to connect with all of you.”
